Experience

Prof. Dr. Joachim G. Frick, LL.M./J.S.D., became a partner at Baker McKenzie Switzerland AG in 2001 and has extensive experience primarily in dispute resolution, insurance, and corporate law. He regularly represents clients as party counsel in litigation and arbitration proceedings, with particular emphasis on corporate, insurance, and M&A disputes. He leads the insurance practice in the Zurich office and co-heads the European Financial Services & Insurance Group\'s steering committee. His work includes representing clients in shareholder disputes, arbitration under licensing agreements, warranty claims under share purchase agreements, insurance regulatory proceedings, and reinsurance and coverage litigation. He has also represented banks in aircraft finance transactions. Additionally, he has practiced with Baker McKenzie in Taipei and Chicago.

Joachim Frick specializes in arbitration, dispute resolution, insurance law, corporate law, and financial services. His arbitration experience encompasses representing reinsurance companies in coverage disputes related to COVID-19 claims, advising on corporate restructuring and M&A-related arbitration, and representing international manufacturers in ICC arbitrations. He has deep expertise in insurance and reinsurance litigation and regulatory matters, serving Swiss and international insurance and reinsurance clients in both litigious and non-litigious contexts. Frick is also highly involved in financial services-related legal issues, including banking and aircraft financing.

Education

Joachim Frick earned his Doctor of Law (Dr. iur.) degree from Zurich University in 1992. He holds an LL.M. (Master of Laws) from Yale Law School, obtained in 1996, and a J.S.D. (Doctor of the Science of Law) from Yale Law School, completed in 2000. Besides his legal practice, he serves as a professor of law at Zurich University.
