He was admitted as an English solicitor in 1987 and worked for six years in London as a Specialist Divorce and Family Lawyer. Initially, he worked in East London and then moved to the City, focusing on high net worth cases involving both UK and non-UK nationals. In 1992, he moved to Nottingham and worked as a Specialist Family Lawyer, practicing in the Family Courts of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire. His practice primarily involved financial disputes between divorcing spouses and separating cohabitees. He is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association).
